What is the vegan market?
The vegan market is the market for goods and services that exclude all forms of exploitation of animals in order to have food, clothing, or any other purposes.
A vegan lifestyle and plant-based products are undeniably on the rise across the globe. More and more people are turning to meat-free and plant-based foods.
Why such change? The reasons may be reducing meat consumption, health reasons, environmental reasons, animal cruelty, improving world hunger, or any combination therein.
Why a vegan diet?
- Climate change seems to be the most important: the carbon footprint.
Animal farming is hugely contributing to the greenhouse effect, whereas plant farming contributes very little to global agricultural emissions.
- A more healthy lifestyle is another major reason – people are more conscious of risks related to meat consumption. A healthier choice is the driver for the rising interest and purchases of plant-based products. People worldwide are searching for information and educating themselves on healthy, vegan lifestyles.
- The third reason is interest in animal well-being. Many are now becoming conscious of the fact of the killing involved and this is another reason why people are consciously searching for plant-based sources of nourishment.

Goals and Objectives:
Short-term Goals:
- Providing people with vegan and plant-based foods, starting from Saskatoon, then Saskatchewan province.
- Serving 100 customers a day via website, social media channels, and google business market.
- The menu includes main dishes, fast food, and dessert, all vegan.
- Type of service: Online ordering, in-place, take away.
Long-term Goals:
– Make a brand for healthy vegan food, starting from Saskatoon, then Saskatchewan province.
– Exporting the brand to other provinces in Canada.
– Expanding the diversity of foods (main dishes, fast food, dessert)
– Promotions: For example, we could offer nut milk bags as up-sells or promotions that complement our plant-based food offerings.
*
Our Audience:
All the vegans, vegetarians, and finally attracting other people.
At first, we target Saskatoon, next we focus on the province of Saskatchewan and then other provinces.
How we can attract more customers:
To attract more customers we need to go over all the reasons why people turn to vegan diets and the beneficial points of having a plant-based diet. We achieve this goal by creating a blog, moreover, we can have some discussions with some of the loyal customers about their experiences with our services.
People aren’t just searching for vegan options in more historically vegan-dense places, but all across the world as well!
You can see the density of searches in Europe.
*
Strategy Plan:
- Designing a website for online ordering and a blog for motivating people to go on a vegan diet.
- Creating social media channels on Facebook, and Instagram to share our foods and services.
- Content marketing, creating and publishing posts to attract our first target group. We start with children and young people up to age 40 who are more into fast foods, and in the next phase, we will focus on the main courses like traditional foods for all the people of all ages.
Consumers, especially young people, are willing to pay more for healthy food, especially if the provider is also environmentally friendly and socially responsible. This offers the opportunity for growth for the right brands.
- Preparing a menu for 7 days of a week including main meal, vegan fast food, and dessert. (for each topic 7 different types)
- Sign-up for the google business market, and create campaigns according to our audience at each phase.
- Increasing our services like the number of main dishes, fast food, desserts which we make each day. (we start with 10 portions of each type in a day)
- Increasing the diversity in our menu based on the number of customers we reach.
***
According to some reports, the global vegan food market could reach $31.4 billion by 2026. That is equivalent to a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 10.5 percent between 2019 and 2026.
Time will tell, but so far the consumers’ preferences for higher-priced plant-based products are stronger than we expected.
