How to gain an online presence using a digital strategy

Introduction

With covid 19 being the new normal, and cleanliness a need for good health, soap companies have been in demand and have shown to be a growing hobby/business today. It turns out to be a viable business opportunity. As technology evolves it’s inevitable to have your growing business form a digital presence as well.

We should evaluate the current market

Look at what the homemade soap-making business is like. For example, for a new business which you would like to start you could look up metrics for your competitors/similar business’s Facebook pages, and see how many likes and follows their page gets, furthermore you could look at how many views their youtube videos got and over a period of how long, not only but also estimating roughly how many people would look/search for this product.

Setting goals for a digital marketing strategy

for this business would be equally important and should be the top priority; these goals should be specific, attainable, measurable, challenging, and realistic.

3 main goals as an example could be

-To make monthly online sales of 150 soap bars

-Receive new leads customers from social media

– Gain 10 000 organic followers who are also loyal customers on social media

Long term goal

– Conversion objective, increase the average order value of online sales to $55 per customer.

-increase new prospects recommended by friends (viral marketing/member get member by 10,000 per annum)

Strategy

It is important to understand your product and what it is customers value and also what your competitors offer, which can be done in steps,

-Gain insights, gather and review base material on target markets, for example checking competitors’ social media to see what others’ audiences are asking, saying, or their likes/dislikes.

-Optimize, evaluate the positioning of potential prepositions, looking for differentiators

-Communicate, clearly articulate your proposition focusing on what customers value supported by your differentiators.

You should also segment a market by splitting up the target market into different groups that have similar characteristics for example, geographic, demographic namely age, gender, income, etc.

Psychographic, their behavior, lifestyle, attitudes and interest, and behavioral. The way customers go through their purchasing process. all this can be done using google analytics which is a very good tool for this. Which allows for more precise targeted marketing and personalized content.

Action plans

There should be one person who is responsible to ensure that the marketing plan/style remains consistent. The essence of a successful plan is clearly identifying responsibilities for different decision points/ aspects of the plan.

For example, the marketing manager should have input in deciding on the process/action plan.

He/she should have good project management skills like good communication, interpersonal skills, knowledge regarding the product, and the ability to multitask.

A look at web analytics to assess if objectives are being achieved.

Google Analytics is a very good tool to use to see your results of how your website is doing.

These would be the steps taken for my homemade soap-making business.

-Set short-term goals as well as long-term goals like mentioned above in the example.

– Research the buyer/audience persona. This information you would be able to gain by segmenting the market.

-Coming up with a strategy by researching what customers value. Explaining what problem you solve, listing what is unique that you offer that no one does. look at competitors’ pages and websites to see the tone of social media content the audience most engage/interact with and what are successful posts.

-Establishing your brand.

– Use tactics like creating a blog linked to your business website where you are able to make use of SEO ranking to become more visible to your audience or similar. Creating an email mailing list to perhaps start emailing campaigns.

– create a google analytics account for your business website, to check the results of how your website is doing if your objectives are being met.
